Mad Gal
Interesting article about the gal who created the Mad Men avatars.

I realized in real life I need new glasses AND have to wear more lipstick
Holiday in the Sun
Most excellent! one of my fave illustrators that I’ve met at Blobfest Dave Perillo has this for sale at his etsy store HensnChicks – just in time for summer!
I like! Jeff Schaller
Painter Jeff Schaller is a fave of mine, so you can imagine how surprised I was to see one of his paintings being recreated at the mall in Exton last fall (OK so this post is late, sue me). I am proud to say I overcame my fear of being in public and joined in, even going so far as to asking the lady for a good square when I saw she was handing me a boring one.
Here’s what I got:
as you can see it was kind of like paint by numbers- I got a lil carried away at one point, painting past the edges of my square, but I hope no one minded!
Here’s what the real deal looks like:

Here’s what the real one looks like in the context of the entire painting:

This gets my mind to wandering and wondering where the mural we helped to paint ended up?
Cool*Yule Christmas Gift!
My dear pal CP and I met last night at one of our fave local haunts for coquettes and croquettes and to exchange Christmas gifts. After a harrowing weekk of the 9-5 it was comfort for the soul to indulge in some home cookin and gal chat. I gave her a copy of the LUPEC Boston Cocktail Book, and she gave me well, the coolest purse in the world!

Thanks, folks at PrettyTheory.com for recycling/reusing old loved books, and thumbs up for your attention to detail!
And thanks to YOU CP, for being the hippest pal a gal could have!
Mod*Holidays
I just uploaded some photos to Flickr of the holiday decorations around the Hacienda, I can’t get wordpress to use the slideshow that Flickr offers, so instead of wasting valuable time trying to figure that out, click Santa Tiki below to go to the set!

I like! Vintage Roadside
Vintage Roadside is a cool website that celebrates the graphic design and advertising of the past, and makes those designs available on tees. Just in time for the holidays!
As you can imagine, i am partial to the Hacienda design, I am sure they have something that strikes your fancy!
I like! Agility Nut
I’ve been a fan of Agility Nut’s roadside photos and envious of her organization and research for a long time now. She’s got photos of many things that I’ve either photoed or have meant to, but she’s taken it a step further and gotten her stuff online, while mine languish in a shoebox somewhere. A fancy shoebox I am sure, but a shoebox nonetheless.
Check out her site! It can suck you in for hours, but there’s some cool stuff-!
who’da thunk? Hampton Inn uses cool photos
We’re staying in a Hampton Inn in Jim Thorpe for the gig and I have to give them a tip of the pillbox for their use of black and white vintagey photographs throughout their marketing materials. Each room has an iconic image that identifies it – we’ve got a old truck in front of a roadside stand, score! And they even have these cool little boxes of mints that can be placed together to construct a bigger photo of roadside signs. The lady neatening up the breakfast bar must’ve thought I was touched as I fished around to find the missing pieces, but I will most likely never be staying here again so no big deal.
I think I might roam (if I want to) the halls seeing what other neat images I can find, which I can post later. I promised Cliff he could sleep as long as he likes which he deserves it after a long hardworking weekend.
